The Lamborghini team, especially the Squadra Corse racing division, loves the thrills of track racing. To some, it may look like an obsession, but to them, it’s passion. A few weeks ago, they released Lamborghini SCV12, a track hypercar, and before the dust on the testing track settles, they are here again. This time, it’s not just a hypercar but the purest one, a track-only fast car licensed only for the racing track.
The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 is the new beast announced on 29 July 2020. According to the press release, this supercar features the most powerful V12 engine ever built for any Lamborghini model. Unfortunately, the Essenza SCV12 is the last model that will ride on the aspirated V12 engine.
On the flip side, it paves the way for future innovations as the brand goes hybrid. Whereas, it may focus on the 12-cylinder engine augmented with electric motors, like the one powering Sian model.
Performance Overview of the Track-only Fast Car
The fast car will host a V12 engine able to produce over 830 hp and a ram-air uplift at high speeds. It will also have big Brembo brakes for slowing down the massive momentum.
All that power is handled by the new X-trac sequential six-speed gearbox, mounted on the chassis, and connected to the rear-wheel drive. The carmaker made modifications to the dual-exit exhaust system to enhance performance. Above all, the cool car comes nestled inside a carbon fiber monocoque, with a power-weight ratio of 1.66hp per kilogram.
As a true testament of the carbon fiber strength, the sports car features no internal roll cage. This is thanks to the fact that the cool car is the first GT model built following the FIA prototype’s safety rules.
The Interior and Exterior Specification of Essenza SCV12
The inside looks like a racing car; the driver and passenger seat are divided by the Y-shaped carbon structure. Too, it comes with an in-built telemetry display within the multifunction steering wheel, like the one for formula one cars. Plus, the interior features Alcantara and carbon elements.
The exterior is more dramatic and typical of a Lambo. It features hexagonal elements, including the front headlights, as well as the roof scoop. Yet, the major talking point is the aero styling, whose inspiration comes from the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 racer. Borrowed specs from the cool car include bonnet dual-air intake, air scoop roof mount, winglets, and front splitter.
Essenza SCV12 benefits a lot from the experience of Lamborghini Squadra Corse. For instance, the aerodynamics on this track-only fast car is superb. The adjustable rear spoiler generates more downforce than any other GT3 car. Its output reaches a whopping 2,756 pounds (1200kg) while driving at 155 mph (250 kph).
Price Tag for the Last V12
According to Lamborghini, only 40 units of these purest track racing cars will be available. But, they didn’t mention the price though car magazines are speculating figures to range from $1.8m to $3m.
Closing Remarks
All 40 owners will join an exclusive club, where they will access specialized programs. They’ ll also enjoy opportunities to drive their fast cars on several prestigious circuits across the world. Each of them will receive storage services at Sant’Agata Bolognese hanger explicitly built for the Essenza SCV12 club.
Essenza SCV12 is a track-only fast car that embodies the true spirit of Lamborghini. The hypercar is extreme and clean as a pure racing car. Over and above, it’s the perfect send-off for the mighty V12 engine.
