As if its success with the SR-series piston line isn’t enough, Cirrus has introduced several SF50 jets since getting the type certification in 2016. The latest model of the company is the Cirrus Vision SF50-G2.
The great thing about this jet is that it is quite easy to fly and is quite affordable. Moreover, 260 of these aircraft have been delivered to date. Let’s see the amazing features of this luxury jet:
Performance and Handling
The Cirrus jet went through a major upgrade in 2019. Its original Williams International FJ33 engines got an upgrade. This increased the jet’s operating ceiling from 28,000 ft to 31,000 ft. Moreover, the jet’s composite fuselage was also reinforced. In this way, the company could maintain the original G1 version’s 8,000 cabin altitude pressure. The higher altitude and the thrust capability increased the maximum range to 920nm (1,700km) with four occupants. In other words, the G2 was able to carry 68kg more payload than the G1.
Other than the increased performance, the G2 also got an auto-throttle. This is a welcome addition as it reduces the pilot’s workload. So, this jet is quite easy to operate. Anyone who has flown other jets before can easily fly it.
Interior
The interior of Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 is quite luxurious. The jet can easily accommodate five persons and the cabin environment is quite comfortable. However, the far aft row seats offer limited height and legroom but are ideal for children and young adults. The rear outboard seats also have a weight limitation of 90 lbs each. Moreover, the G2 offers additional finishing options and has a USB-C port for the occupants as well.
The great thing about the aircraft is that it has fairly large windows so that you can enjoy the outside environment. Moreover, the cabin has three seating rows, with removable seats. So, the densest configuration provides seating for seven; five adults and two children.
Infotainment
The jet is quite tech-friendly. The large Garmin G3000 PFD and MFD displays are accompanied by horizontal-oriented Garmin Touch Controllers (GTCs). This is the primary method of controlling the G3000 avionics suite. The orientation and placement of the GTCs are easily accessible to both the pilot and co-pilot.
The Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 also has emergency switches, in case of disaster. Moreover, the engine fire control switches, emergency locator transmitters, as well as other emergency controls, are present overhead above the flight deck.
Probably the most significant accomplishment of this jet is the presence of the Safe Return System. This system activates during an emergency and safely flies and lands the aircraft without human intervention. Moreover, this jet is one of the only three aircraft types to be certified with Autoland.
Price
The price of Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 is around 3,700,000. For more information, visit the Controller website.
The Cirrus Vision Jets are unique and enjoyable to fly and this latest model is no exception. With an autothrottle, a Safe Return emergency landing system, and easy handling, it is hard to think that Cirrus could make the jet better. So, if you are looking for a luxury jet, you should buy the Cirrus Vision SF50-G2.
