The business jet category was affected badly during the pandemic era and there was a huge decline in deliveries. However, one aircraft showed resilience in this category. It is none other than the 2020 Cirrus Vision SF50-G2.
This new model is a huge upgrade from the previous models. Its new features include a higher maximum operating altitude, autothrottle, upgraded avionics, lithium-ion main-ship batteries, and additional paint schemes.
Performance and Handling
The previous FJ33 has been modified with a new thrust schedule from 24,000 to 31,000 feet. Moreover, its new maximum operating altitude is 28,000 feet. This gives the G2 Vision an improved climb and a seven-knot increase in cruise speed to 311 ktas. So, it is one knot faster than the original Vision at 28,000 feet.
The range of this luxury jet is 100 nautical miles higher at long-range cruise speeds of 240 ktas. So, this gives it a range of over 1,200 nautical miles. In this way, on an 800-nautical-mile mission, an additional 150 pounds of the payload is possible. Moreover, the handling of the 2020 Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 is quite easy. Anyone who has flown other aircraft before can easily fly it.
Interior
The cabin for both the passengers and the crew is quite impressive. Although the initial vision jet had a well-designed experience, the Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 gives a more pleasant experience. The aircraft can easily carry 5 adults and two children in the rear seats.
The great thing about this luxury jet is that its cockpit seats are quite easy to access, especially with the design of the adjustment. The door can be closed by a trained passenger, or preferably the pilot by sliding their seat back to access the door.
Infotainment
The 2020 Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 is quite tech-friendly and contains the large Garmin G3000 PFD and MFD displays. Moreover, the upgraded G3000 avionics take advantage of the high-speed processors and graphic chips. They have also added new features like an upgraded autopilot and FMS-integrated autothrottle.
The G2 has introduced a home button, which Cirrus calls the Safe Return System. It is based on Garmin’s Autoland technology. The Safe Return system is available to passengers within minutes of takeoff. In case of emergency, the plane automatically forms a new flight plan, avoids any terrains or weather conditions in its path, approaches the nearest airport, and gives a safe landing without the pilot or passenger intervention.
Price
The price of the 2020 Cirrus Vision SF50-G2 is around $2,500,000. For more information, visit the Controller website.
