How To Make Fitness Fun

How to Make Fitness Fun

We all want to take better care of our bodies, but we don’t always achieve our goals. The sad fact is that we have good intentions, yet these intentions become blurry when it comes time to exercise. Exercise, by definition, isn’t fun, but fitness can be. We are pushing our body to the limits to try and make it more efficient and healthier. The result is that we may not exercise as much as we should because we hate the thought of going for a run or hitting the gym. To avoid this scenario, we have to flip the script and make working out enjoyable. Only then can we live a healthy and enjoyable life. Here are my favorite ways to make exercise and fitness less painful! (Image by Steve McFarland)

Take Up A Fun Hobby

Some think you have to run for hours on end on the treadmill to exercise ‘properly’ because that was the common wisdom at the time. We now know that isn’t the case, which opens up a world of possibilities. We recommend taking up a fitness hobby that is physically demanding, but that you look forward to on a weekly basis. Some people play squash or go to spinning class and others go to the gym. It doesn’t matter what we are doing as long as we are doing it two to three times a week.

Have An Incentive

Incentives come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. The thing to remember is that the stronger the incentive, the more effective it is for our work out regimes. For anyone that wants to lose weight, the target weight might be enough for you to exercise more and refine your diet. However, we are not all that driven. Some of us need more extrinsic rewards like a trophy. A trophy is a reminder that we set out and achieved what we wanted to do, which is a great incentive. At Liz Hogon, our preferred trophy store is one with a good range and affordable prices. Click on the link for more information.

Do it With A Friend

Exercising can be a lonely experience for some, especially while you’re just beginning to live a healthier lifestyle and go to the gym regularly. What you need is a fitness partner in crime to make the process easier. When you’re am with a friend, you enjoy whatever form of exercise you are am doing at the time because of the social aspect. You’ll have someone to talk to, and moan to, about everything from the gym to my day at work. You should never underestimate the social aspect of exercise and its benefits.

Imagine

My final tip is to lose yourself in your mind. No, not like Leonardo Dicaprio in Inception because that is impossible. But, more like when you are on a bus or in a car, and you let your mind wonder. You’ll love this trick because it takes your mind off the fact that you’re exercising and doing something that you don’t find fun. Eventually your fitness routine will become a nice time for you to let your body work and your mind rest.

By the time it comes to the end of the session, you’ll  always think ‘where did the time go?’
