The rise of the internet – and the Social Media Star – has seen the beauty industry explode. What was once an area dominated by high-end names has now become an industry open to everyone that has an interest in it. Celebrities are constantly bringing out their own lipstick ranges, and Youtube stars have taken their ‘how to videos’ into an impossible realm where they now have big beauty businesses that once specialized in eye shadow.
It is a brave new world out there for anyone that is feeling brave enough to take the leap. It doesn’t matter whether you have a real passion for skin care, fragrances, makeup or nails, growing a beauty brand from the ground up is doable. It is just a matter of knowing which resources to use – once you have a product that is.
Use Instagram For Something Other Than Food Snaps
Instagram is one of the greatest ways anyone with a beauty product can build a brand, and that is because it is so easy to operate, navigate and take advantage of. It is just a matter of knowing which users will be of use. Which influencers will be able to help and which stars will have the most impact. Once this is done, start associating yourself with them. Comment on their pictures, start using popular hashtags for other products that are relevant to the desired industry. Get to know who the popular beauty bloggers are, which make-up artists have a big following and which magazine editors will be useful. It all counts.
Don’t Convolute Your Online Profile
Your best bet of getting noticed and becoming a success is to corner a small corner of the market, and the best way to do that is to have an online profile that doesn’t detract from your goal at all. This means using the same Instagram filter. It means having a web design that will not only mimic what your brand is about but be an ambassador for it. When someone thinks of, say, simple but bold nail polish you want them to think of you. That is the goal. So stick to it and build off when you can, but don’t spread yourself thin. Broaden your horizons only when you can.
Celebrity Agents Are Your Best Friend
These are the people responsible for the every move a celebrity makes. So do your research, know which celebrity would be the perfect representative for your brand, and get yourself known with their agents. They probably won’t speak to the celebrity directly, but they will be able to put you in touch with their stylists. Plus their hair stylists, their manicurists, their make-up artists or whoever else will be relevant at their next photo shoot. Celebrities always get sent free things, which makes it quite a hard route. But all it will take is one photograph ,whether a professional shot or street style snap. For bloggers to start talking about you and people to start buying from you. So tell agents about your brand and see which avenue they believe will be the best fit. You’ll be surprised at the response.
