Acting Career

Zac Efron was a natural on-screen actor from the get-go, and it didn’t take long for him to land his first TV show role. He appeared in the episode ‘Safe’ of the space Western drama series Firefly back in 2002. He also took acting lessons while he was in high school and performed in local theatrical productions.

He was cast as the lead in Vanessa Hudgens’ music video “Say OK” and starred as Troy Bolton in High School Musical in 2007. The movie became a major success and led to a sequel, which was broadcast on Disney Channel in August of that same year. He then took on the role of Link Larkin in Hairspray, a big-budget film adaptation of the popular Broadway musical. It was a huge success and proved that Efron was more than just a pretty face.

A year after Hairspray, he returned to the High School Musical franchise with the film 17 Again. It was another big hit and set the tone for his career. He then starred in a few critically acclaimed movies like the romantic comedy Neighbors and the period drama Me and Orson Welles.

He flexed his comedic muscles again in the 2013 comedy ‘Neighbors 2’ and proved that he can act with the best of them. He’s gotten more challenging roles, too, such as a drug-addled libertine in the Harmony Korine film The Beach Bum and serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Philanthropic Efforts

Aside from proving that he can act beyond the Disney Channel mold with roles in movies such as ’17 Again’, ‘Dirty Grandpa’ and ‘Neighbors’, Efron is a dedicated philanthropist who has made it a point to give back to the community. For example, he once auctioned off his first car for charity and later donated 300 articles of clothing from his closet to the Children’s Resource Network in California.

In his spare time, he enjoys surfing and has even shared some of his workout routines on social media to inspire fans to get active and stay fit. He is also an avid traveler and has visited countries all over the world. In addition, he has hosted a number of TV shows including the reality series ‘Down to Earth with Zac Efron’ and the documentary ‘Earthly Delights’.

Earlier this year, Zac Efron on his Insta encouraged his 36.5 million Instagram followers to support farm animal rescue efforts following the California wildfires. He posted a link to the Humane Society of Ventura County, which is accepting animals evacuated from the Woolsey and Hill fires. He also urged his followers to donate to the cause. This was a great way to show his support and raise awareness for this worthy cause. Efron’s philanthropic efforts are just one of the many things that have earned him so much love and respect from his fans and fellow celebrities. He is a true role model and deserves all of the success that comes his way.

Current Projects

Zac Efron continues to build a varied body of work that proves he has more to offer than the boy-next-door persona that audiences fell in love with from his High School Musical movies. The actor has branched out to showcase different sides of himself with films like 17 Again and Neighbors, as well as a number of TV shows. He is now set to star in The Iron Claw, a drama from writer-director Sean Durkin. The film will tell the story of the Von Erich family, a wrestling dynasty. The cast will also include illustrious names like Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Sherry Cola, and Olivia Macklin.

Efron will be stepping outside of his comfort zone for this movie, as he will play an adult male who enters the world of women’s wrestling. As a part of his preparation for the role, Efron has bulked up in order to fit into the character’s physique. He revealed to Men’s Health that he used a different approach than the training that helped him prepare for his role in Baywatch.

Efron is also working on a number of television projects, including a possible adaptation of John LeFevre’s book, Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance, Debauchery, and Billion-Dollar Deals. The series is currently in the early stages of development, and there is no word yet on when it might be released.
