Beverly Hills Ball 2018

Located in the heart of Beverly Hills, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills is known for its creative efforts to engage the broader community through its wide range of memorable initiatives, events, and celebrations. This year, it is excited to announce its 11th annual Beverly Hills Ball, “A Swingin’ Affair,” taking place on Wednesday, April 25, at 6:00 pm—with host Leeza Gibbons! The event will recognize congregants Jan and Alan Block and Judie Fenton for their philanthropic efforts and contributions. Together, the honorees exemplify the best in the Temple and the greater community.

As thirty-five year Temple Emanuel members, Jan and Alan Block have contributed to temple life in a multitude of ways. From being Directors on the Board, to Chairs of several committees, their contributions and ongoing involvement have created a lasting impact, granting them the honor of receiving the Humanitarian Award. Jan, a first generation American child of Hungarian Holocaust survivors, has been a Coldwell Banker real estate broker for forty one years. She steered the Beverly Hills School district as President of both the Beverly Hills Education Foundation and the PSTA.

She was also Chairperson of the City of Beverly Hills Charitable Solicitations Commission. Her husband, Alan, is the senior partner at the boutique real estate and land use law firm of Block & Block. He has served on numerous commissions including the State of California Senate Select Committee on Small Business Enterprises, the Los Angeles County Beach Advisory Committee, the City of Beverly Hills Recreation and Park Commission (as both Chair and Vice Chair). While at the Office of the Attorney General for the State of California, he was the lead attorney to the California Coastal Commission. Jan and Alan Block are the proud parents of two sons and two wonderful grandchildren.

With a deep commitment to her community for the past 30 years, Judie Fenton has gained the reputation of a “go-to” person. From President of Horace Mann PTA, the Beverly Hills PTA Council, and the Maple Counseling Center, to being a founding member of the Wallis Annenberg Center and the BHEF Board of Directors, the Community Spirit Award recognizes her vast and impressive service to civic life.

Appointed to the Traffic and Parking Commission and to the Recreation and Parks Commission, Judie galvanizes the community around important civic issues and city growth. In 1993, she established FTA Events and Marketing and has more than twenty five years of experience in creative marketing, business development, event planning, and political campaign strategies.  Judie is the mother of four grown children and six precious grandchildren.

It is with great honor that Temple Emanuel recognizes their congregants and invites friends, colleagues and family to celebrate at this year’s Beverly Hills Ball event.
