Talented artist Claudiu Dumitrache from Romania is already being admired by many celebrities at the age of 25. Cheryl Shuman, the Cannabis Queen of Beverly Hills, posted a comment on social media to express her love for what Claudiu is doing. Among the celebrities who have expressed their love or appreciation for Dumitrache over the years are Jonathan Jackson, Kaven Girouard, Marian Gold, Jakob Petren, Andrei Zincă and Miley Cyrus. On SPOTLIGHT, Beverly Hills Magazine presents our European artist of the month, Claudiu Dumitrache.

Claudiu Dumitrache is a poet, musician, writer, journalist, and organiser of major cultural events in Romania. Hailed in Hollywood as a “revelation from Wallachia” and the most representative young cultural figure from Romania, he was awarded the title of Ambassador of Culture by the Euro Education Federation.

Claudiu’s books and artistic activities are extraordinary, making him “a unique figure in the Romanian landscape” and “a cultural marathoner”. In literary dictionaries and magazines, he is praised by many important figures.

According to Hollywood Progressive, Hollywood star Jonathan Jackson, with whom Claudiu has developed a friendship over the past few years, wrote that “the personal nature of Claudiu’s poems allows them to rise to the universal in their honesty and longing. Dumitrache’s poetry enters into this “meta-language” and invites the heart to contemplate life on the most essential levels.” – Jonathan Jackson.

Dumitrache’s friendship with Jackson is rooted in their shared interest in Orthodox faith and literature. In 2022, Claudiu awarded Jonathan the Distinction of Excellence from the Royal Literary Awards. Speaking about the prestigious award, Jonathan wrote on social media, according to soapsindepth.com: “Although I don’t feel worthy of this, it is my sincere desire to assist in the promotion of authentic values. With this in mind, I will receive this very gracious honor in the spirit of humility and responsibility – a responsibility to continue every effort of repentance, faith, and love. My humble gratitude to everyone at the Royal Literary Magazine. This is a beautiful gift from God.”- Jonathan Jackson

Dumitrache and Miley Cyrus

In 2012, Miley Cyrus taught Claudiu Dumitrache how to sing the song “The Climb”. The friendship between the two lasted a few months, as Miley appreciated the Romanian singer’s voice and talent. “The Climb” was the first song with which Claudiu captivated the audience and won numerous awards in competitions and festivals in Romania.

Contacted by Beverly Hills Magazine, Dumitrache confirmed these facts and nostalgically remembered the times when he talked and sang with Miley every week:

“I used to stay up late at night and persistently call until Miley had time to answer. She was kind and sweet and gave me attention for a while, until her schedule no longer allowed it. When we talked via video calls, Miley often appeared with her puppy, whom she introduced to me at the time, although I don’t know if he is still alive now. Many times, I interrupted her during her moments of relaxation when she used to listen to rap music. I disturbed her often; that was her misfortune; but, for me, her voice saying my name remains one of the most beautiful memories of my life.”

Claudiu Dumitrache

Dumitrache is considered Mihai Eminescu’s legacy for this century, his poetry belonging to the neo-symbolism movement and promoting national and universal values. His poems have been translated into German, English and French, and the Romanian author enjoys a fascinating reputation. In the “Anthology of Romanian Lyricism from its Beginnings to the Present”, published in Germany, Christian W. Schenk (Corresponding Member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities) placed Dumitrache among the last four representative poets of Romanian literature born after 1990. The critics said that “Dumitrache’s works are precious and original works that will certainly remain forever in the Romanian cultural treasury”. Ioan-Aurel Pop, president of the Romanian Academy and member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, said that Dumitrache “is a symbol of the future of intellectual creation, an intellectual who can coagulate souls and a carrier and creator of culture, as is rarely found in Wallachia today”.

Dumitrache has been nominated for a music award in Las Vegas in recent years, and on this occasion, actor Michael Airington said that one of the things that impresses him about Claudiu is his drive and determination. “Not only is he an incredibly talented singer and performer, but his drive and perseverance are what it takes to be successful in life. I can say, Claudiu is the real deal.” – Michael Airington

Several publications have written about  Dumitrache’s connections with various celebrities, including Isaac C. Cates (from the Grammy Awards voting committee), Michael James Down, EB Davis, Michaela Rose, and businessman Michael Koch, with whom Claudiu sang at a karaoke night in Bucharest. Kaven Girouard (Celine Dion’s guitarist) appreciates the Romanian’s work and voice, saying that Dumitrache did a great version in Romanian for the song “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles (“Semnele Timpului”).

Dumitrache has sung in almost 3,000 shows, as well as in the opening concerts of the German band Alphaville, the Croatian artist Neda Ukraden and the Australian singer Faydee. Some of his most important concerts took place in Brussels, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bucharest, and Iași.

He founded the cultural media trust Myosotis Media Group, through which Dumitrache organises events focusing on culture, literature and awards. The Myosotis Awards, which have been presented at various ceremonies in recent years, have gone to many well-known figures from Europe, such as musician Eugen Doga, the famous gymnast Nadia Comăneci, the fashion designer Cătălin Botezatu (famous student of Gianni Versace), the actress Maia Morgenstern, and the writer Mihai Cimpoi.

Andrew B. Cole mentions that Claudiu has won many prizes for poetry, music and journalism, being named Notorious figure of culture and public life in the Republic of Moldova. He is the most prolific young Romanian writer (8 books) and the youngest winner in the history of the Romanian press awards. Claudiu set also the national record for The youngest author of an autobiography.

With such astounding achievements and a personality admired throughout the artistic world, we have just been talking about a true star of European culture.
