Beverly Hills Magazine: Where do get your inspiration for each event?

Edward Perotti:  Inspiration comes from everywhere. In a movie, I could see a scene that inspires me. I was in San Francisco and some clients of mine wanted a white party. So I saw white butterflies, and that sparked my imagination. We took a grand ballroom and completely blanketed the walls with white butterflies, white organza, and a white dance floor. We brought a lot of crystal, and created a more refined spectacular white party.

Beverly Hills Magazine: How beautiful! I love butterflies! I’ve never seen a white party done that way. You have such a wonderful gift of imagination!

Edward Perotti: That’s my niche. In 27 years in the business, I have never repeated myself. I always create something different and new.

Beverly Hills Magazine:  Wow. That’s amazing. You always come up with something new and original. What makes an event successful?

Edward Perotti:  If guests walk away with an experience that puts a smile on their face or an “aha” moment. There has to be an emotional takeaway; the ROO, Return On Objective. Events are meant to be positive, so a successful event for me is to use my talents to give unforgettable positive experiences to the guests.

Beverly Hills Magazine: Why are events an important part of society and culture?

Edward Perotti: Honestly they are even more important now because of technology. Events bring people together and inspire that human connection in real life. Today with Facebook, people use the term “friend” loosely. Texting does not replace physical positive human reinforcements. Bringing people together is now more important than ever.

Beverly Hills Magazine: I agree. God’s word also tells us that where there is unity, there is a commanded blessing. There is something so beautiful about being together in the spirit of celebration and joy. What struggles have you faced in your journey of success?

Edward Perotti:  I’ve had to manage health issues and other things, though one of the biggest struggles has been learning to let go of control.  We are human, and we can push ourselves too hard sometimes. We can break if we do that. Also recognizing that I do not have all the answers. The trick is to be comfortable and humble enough to bring others in, and create a work community while being willing to not take all the credit.

Beverly Hills Magazine: Do you have a life quote or motto, or Bible scripture you like to live by? Mine is Matthew 19:26, “With God All Things Are Possible.”

Edward Perotti:  I had the honor of people Maya Angelou and one of her quotes really resonates with me:  “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” It’s so true…People will forget the meal, but not the way the experience made them feel.

Beverly Hills Magazine: What advice would you give to others aspiring event producers who haven’t taken the leap of faith to pursue their own dreams?

Edward Perotti: Do your homework. Have everything in order.

Beverly Hills Magazine: How has God played a hand in your life, or let you know that He is always with you?

Edward Perotti: I visit my grandparents’ grave once a quarter. They have been deceased for 22 years, but when I visit I feel like they’re there with me, whether it’s them or God. I have a spiritual conversation and feel reassured that I’m doing things right.

Beverly Hills Magazine: That’s beautiful. There’s actually a woman named Kat Kerr who has written the book, Revealing Heaven, and she speaks about the Portals in Heaven, where our past on loved ones can look down upon us and be as close as the ceiling to us wherever we are. So no doubt they are with you in those special moments. Have you discovered a personal purpose in what you do?

Edward Perotti: To teach people, whether they are single or couples, young or old, companies great or small that it’s all about leaving more than you take. Making others realize the importance of giving back through events such as a good and positive emotional experiences.
