Ferrari is at it again! Just two years ago, the company released the 488 GTB, which proved to be a stellar street-legal racecar. But since then, Ferrari decided it’s time for an upgrade in the form of the Ferrari 488 Pista. And with a name that translates to “track” in English, you already know to expect some big things here. So, let’s take a look at just how big some of these changes are for Ferrari’s ultimate sports car.

Ferrari 488 Pista Engine and Specs

Immediately when popping that hood, you’ll find a 3.9-liter V-8 twin-turbocharged engine (dubbed the F154 CD by Ferrari). As a whole, this engine is packing nothing but amazing performance. With 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft torque, this is the strongest street-legal V-8 engine Ferrari ever produced. And you already know that’s saying something!

Put into practical terms, this power translates to this cool car rushing from 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds. Moreover, on the Ferrari Fiorano test track, the sporty 488 Pista achieved a 1:21.5 lap time. As a whole, this is 1.5 seconds faster than the 488 GTB predecessor. So Ferrari certainly succeeded when it came to building a faster car.

Before moving on, let’s not forget about one final kick of fun—drifting. If you’re looking to slide around corners like any pro driver, then flip that CT switch behind the steering wheel to off. By doing so, you activate the Side-Slip Control feature. This mode allows for 30 degrees of slip angle. So in other words, you’ll be pulling off some ultra-smooth drifts that’ll dominate any racetrack!

Design and Exterior

Not only does this dream car pack impressive performance, but it’s also downright beautiful.

On the surface, the Ferrari 488 Pista offers all the sexy curves and contours you’d expect from a cool sports car. But even better is how many of these design choices offer aerodynamic functions.

For example, the hood of this Ferrari is known as the “S-Duct.” Its design directs air through the body of the car in an S-shape, hence the name. As far as function goes, this design creates more downforce (20% to be exact) on the front axle for better performance.

Another interesting touch here is that the 488 Pista includes no vinyl on any of the body accents. So instead, this results in carbon-fiber throughout the car, such as on the trunk lid.

Lastly, the rear spoiler offers a small gap, which allows for just enough air to pass through to further amplify the downforce on the rear-axle. So again, this allows for some better performance and grip at the end of the day.

Upon stepping inside the Ferrari 488 Pista, you’ll find the ultimate racecar experience. The carbon-fiber dash and steering wheel really drive home the sporty look of this car. Meanwhile, the suede and leather interior adds a stylish touch to the design.

You’ll also find a few Ferrari horses scattered throughout the car. But don’t worry, they don’t look horrible or distracting by any means. In fact, they simply remind you and your passengers that they just entered one of the world’s fastest street-legal cars.

For some added cool points, Ferrari included an LED bar that lights up whenever the Pista revs up some high RPMs.

However, the real bottom line here is that Ferrari wanted to create the ultimate sporty cockpit experience. And that’s exactly what you’ll get once you seat yourself inside this fast car. Everything from a large tachometer to a multifunctional steering wheel is present here.

How Much Does the Ferrari 488 Pista Cost?

At the moment, Ferrari has yet to release an exact price for the 488 Pista. But if you want to compare to older models to speculate a price for yourself, here are a couple figures.

The standard Ferrari 488 GTB costs roughly $252,800. Meanwhile, the 458 Speciale costs around $300,000.

So with these numbers in mind, you can place your guess for how much the upgraded Ferrari 488 Pista will cost.

Wrapping Up

At the end of the day, the Ferrari 488 Pista is shaping up to be a fantastic car. Priding itself as an upgrade to the 488 GTB, the Pista certainly has some big shoes to fill. But looking at how things are shaping up, it looks like the 488 Pista will easily live up to the standard. And just for the record once more: this is Ferrari’s most powerful Street-legal V-8 car!
