The vast majority of cars these days are designed not for off-road, but primarily for city driving. This means that their main focus is fuel economy and comfort. And for most drivers, this is pretty much ideal. After all, if you live in a city or town then you won’t need your car to stand up to that much intense punishment. However, if you want to be able to leave the road behind and really kick up some dust, a lot of city cars simply aren’t going to be fit for purpose. But it is also possible to have that off road, towing, and regular commute functionality with Jeep for example. And with that in mind, here are some things to consider when trying to find the perfect off-road vehicle.
SUV
An SUV is likely to be the most common type of off-road vehicle that you’ll see. They’re generally designed to be smaller and lighter than other trucks and function well as family vehicles. Also, their off-road jeep parts are interchangeable, and this makes them incredibly versatile because they are often just as well suited to cruising around the city streets and doing the school run as they are to getting off-road and into the mud. There are a lot of different makes and models of SUVs that have their own benefits and drawbacks, so it’s a good idea to really do your research to figure out which one really ticks all of your boxes.
Lifted Truck
If you’re looking for a serious step up from something like an SUV then you can’t really go wrong with a lifted truck. The name likely gives it away but the suspension on a lifted truck has been modified to allow for the body to be raised much higher off the ground. This makes it perfect if you’re looking to do some serious odd-road driving. Plus, the tyres are often large enough and feature deep enough treads that they can stand up to even the toughest terrain out there. Obviously, this isn’t a vehicle that suits city driving all that well but if you’re mostly focussed on off-roading, this could well be your perfect choice.
Jeep
If you want a vehicle that is built from the ground up exclusively for driving off-road then a Jeep could well be the answer to all of your prayers. If you go to a Jeep dealer then you’re likely to see a lot of different options but pretty much all of them are perfect for getting out there into the mud. Not only that but there is a lot to be said for the classic look of a Jeep that no other off-road vehicle can really capture.
Of course, one thing that you have to consider pretty carefully when it comes to finding the perfect off-road vehicle is whether or not it actually feels right when you’re behind the wheel. It’s a great idea to do as much research as possible but one thing that you have to do is to make sure that you actually get out and test drive any car that you’re interested in. That’s the only way that you’re going to be absolutely sure that any vehicle is right for your needs.
