The 8th Annual Awareness Film Festival, founded by Skye Kelly of Heal One World Charity, presented actor/musician James Maslow @JamesMaslow (48hrs to Live, Big Time Rush) and Lisa Vanderpump @LisaVanderpump of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with the Humanitarian Award and Compassion Award, respectively.
Pop-idol and former Big Time Rush frontman, James Maslow, put a spotlight on the terrifying, growing epidemic of human trafficking in his latest music video “Cry”; while Lisa Vanderpump is a powerful voice for animal rights and is working to put an end to barbaric cruelty at the Yulin Dog Meat Festival with her documentary, “The Road to Yulin”, directed by Dr. John Sessa.
Held at the Allies Gallery, downtown Los Angeles, guests enjoyed a vegan dinner by 5 Carrots with beverages provided by Yerba Mate, Bhakti Chai, and Social Enjoyments.
The mission of the Awareness Film Festival is bringing awareness and to open eyes to some of our world’s pressing issues: Ecological, Political, Health/Well-Being and the Spirit. Awareness showcases both Documentary and Narrative Features, as well as Short Films, Music Videos, and Public Service Announcements. The Awareness Film Festival was formed by Heal One World, a non-profit charity.
