Centennial-themed creations by young artists from Beverly Hills and the Sister City of Herzliya, Israel will be on display in the Municipal Gallery, May 2-4. Inspired by the theme “Beverly Hills 100 – What It Means to Me,” 140 youths aged 5-18 submitted a dazzling array of paintings, drawings and photographs to the Centennial Youth Art Contest. (Pictured is LION by young artist Dylan Kowalski).
“I am thrilled that our younger residents have embraced the Beverly Hills Centennial and honored our history in their own unique and creative way.” said Mayor Lili Bosse, who is also one of the judges. “The Youth Art Contest Committee did a fabulous job reaching out to our local students. And inviting kids in Herzliya to enter was a wonderful way to involve our Sister City in the Centennial.”
Winners in four different age groups for each of the art categories (visual arts and photography) will be announced on May 1 at a reception attended by a representative from the Israeli consulate. The reception will be held in Municipal Gallery from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. For public viewing, the Municipal Gallery hours are:
