Sheryl Crow is a nine-time Grammy award winner and an American music icon. Her first nine studio albums have sold 35 million copies worldwide. Moreover, seven of those hits charted in the Top 10, and five were certified for Multi-Platinum sales. Not only has Sheryl Crow greatly influenced a new generation of singers and songwriters; but her songs were sang or covered by them as well. Among those who look up to her are Phoebe Bridgers, H.E.R, Haim, Maren Morris, Lorde, Sasami, Best Coast, and Brandi Carlile.
Director Amy Scott has directed a full-length documentary film entitled Sheryl. It will premier on March 11 at SXSW, ahead of the May 6 premier on Showtime. The film is about the singer’s life and career; an intimate story of song and sacrifice, Sheryl navigates an iconic yet arduous musical career while the artist battles sexism, ageism, depression, cancer, and the price of fame, before harnessing the power of her gift.
In connection to the release of the documentary, UME and Big Machine Records will also release a new album called Sheryl: Music From The Feature Documentary, digitally on May 6. It contains 2 CDs which feature the greatest hits of Sheryl Crow. Among these songs are “If it Makes you Happy”, “Soak up the Sun”, “All I wanna do” and “My Favorite Mistake”. More tracks, including 3 new recorded ones are in the CDs. To preorder Sheryl: Music From The Feature Documentary, click HERE.
“I am excited for the premiere of my documentary,” says Crow. “I hope people will find strength and courage through my story. It was a journey through years and years of incredible memories, and I am proud of the beautiful documentary that Amy Scott made about my life.”
I hope you all take the time to watch the film!
