Roma is the latest luxury car in the Ferrari stable. It’s also one of the least expensive fast cars to come from Maranello, the brand’s headquarters. Not only that, Roma is among the slim models and perhaps the most beautiful Ferrari in recent times. And not forgetting, as much as Ferrari Roma is a modern car with 21st-century hardware, its design pays homage to the Italian Gran Turismo of the 1950s and 60s.
Again, this Ferrari GT is not a derivative of any previous models but a modern interpretation of those classic automotive concepts. Neither is it a replacement of the Portofino, a GT powered by V8 front-engine, nor feature any of its hardware. However, Roma is a blend of diverse hardware and software that are refined, renewed, and repurposed from existing models. The results equal a cleverly engineered and well-executed Super GT, Roma.
Engine Output, Transmission, and Performance of Roma
Beneath the lengthy bonnet gives access to the 3.9 liters V8 twin-turbo engine mounted near the middle. The engine generates an output of 612 horsepower and 561 lb-ft worth of torque. Compared to Portofino, the horsepower delivered is more by 21 hp, but the torque remains the same. The extra power comes courtesy of revised cam profiles and new sensors within the turbocharger housings. Together, they help monitor the turbines and also help the rev spin to at least 5000rpm higher.
The transmission system is a new automatic eight-speed dual-clutch, weighing 13.2 pounds lighter than the one used in Portofino. Its clutch unit is smaller, although it can handle 35 percent increased torque. Likewise, the ratios within the transmission system vary from those found in SF90. Also, it includes a reverse gear, unlike the hybrid SF90 that uses e-motors for reverse.
Both the dual-clutch and steering respond instantly to commands which means Roma does what you want. Despite weighing 3,245 pounds, it still takes 3.4 seconds to speed up from zero to 62mph, which is better than most supercars. It also shoots from standstill to 124 mph in 9.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 199 mph. Plus, the Super GT comes loaded with the latest SSC iteration, which works with SCM-E Frs, F1-Track system, and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer. All these systems make Roma become a superb vehicle to drive.
Interior, Infotainment, and Design of this Super GT
Inside this latest Ferrari fast car, you find a 2+2 seat layout. The space at the rear two seats can fit an adult if the front seats are adjusted properly, or you can use the area to carry some luggage. Also, the interior features a mix of upscale materials like the stitched leather and swathed faux suede.
The front seat layout means passengers get cocooned within the dashboards, which sweeps across the door and above the floating centre console. In addition, the driver’s side features a steering wheel with haptic controls and a 16-inch fully digitalized cluster, while the passenger side includes an 8.8-inch wide-screen with navigation settings. On top of this, the cabin comes with driver-assist systems such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.
The fast car is undoubtedly distinctive from other modern Ferrari. Its body design includes unique styling, such as a sharp low nose and squinting headlights on either end of a grille with wide holes. However, from the rear end, the design looks familiar, like that of a prior Ferraris. Otherwise, it appears plain compared to the front but punctuated with four small taillights, which form part of the spoiler.
Overall, the luxury car features few elements that resemble a typical Ferrari. These include the quad exhaust pipes, the oversize carbon diffuser, and of course, the prancing horse badge.
Selling Price of Roma
Well, the starting price of this Ferrari is $222,420. Though taunted as the cheapest Ferrari model, it is still expensive compared to other brands. Also, the manufacturer is offering warranty and maintenance service for three years and a further complimentary maintenance cover for seven years.
To Sum Up
The Roma brings forth the GT vibes from the 1950s but in a modern tech-savvy way. Named after Italy’s capital city, the Roma looks beautiful as the city named after. On top of that, the spec elevates the model to new heights above other vehicles while still embodying the classic look of the former model.
This model is not unique but also full of elegance and simplicity. Without a doubt, it’s a model engineered to be the ideal automobile.
