The glamorous Suzanne Somers, who has been on our screens since the 1970s has recently sold her Palm Springs home. She and her husband, Hameel, had to sell the house when Suzanne recently fell down the steps and had to have neck surgery; moreover, the house no longer serves their needs as both love birds, 74 and 84 respectively, are old and need a more comfortable place— a home with fewer steps.
The Palm Springs sold at $8.5 million, which is a considerable decrease from the original $35million price in 2008. What caused the exorbitant price slash, we don’t know.
However, the couple is building a comfortable house near the Palm Springs home they just sold. They must love the neighborhood so much.
The Palm Springs compound, perched on a hill, spans twenty-eight acres and overlooks the Mesa Canyon. Designed after L’oustau De Baumaniere in Provence, France, Suzanne and Hameel combined their love for nature and contrast to form their elegant love nest.
There are five buildings in the Palm Springs home, each with 10,000 square feet of pavilions. One houses the master suite, a dining room that seats 32, the living room, a separate two-room kitchen, a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, and a stone guest house designed in the 1920s by Albert Frey.
Also, there is an amphitheater carved into the mountain that accommodates 50 persons and has a dance floor. Not all; there’s a pool, spa, hiking trails, and a natural waterfall.
Being that the house is perched on a hill, access into the home is through a private funicular, golf cart, or a hillside of step stones.
