For the model year of 2021, Porsche presents a Taycan station wagon known as Cross Turismo. The wagon variety is basically the same vehicle with some single bodies, a longer roof, and more cargo space. In contrast to the sedan, however, the Cross Turismo is available only with all-wheel drive and the larger Taycan battery pack. It is also equipped with a better standard ride height and an off-road design package with specific wheels and other visual improvements.
When the car hits the dealership this summer, it will be the first electric wagon on sale in the US.
The performance of the Taycan Cross Turismo
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo provides an elegant car body with electrical efficiency. It is equipped with a standard 83.7 kWh battery pack, two electric motors, an all-wheel drive, and a 0.8-inch air suspension compared with Taycan sedans.
The Taycan battery uses pouch cells that are chemically optimized for the highest output with a broad range: 33 modules with 396 cells. They are available in a wide version (performance battery Plus). The more lightweight, regular Taycan and Taycan4S battery provides 28 modules of energy with 336 cells in total. The standard performance battery Plus is used in the TaycanTurbo, Taycan Turbo S, and all Taycan Cross Turismo versions.
An automated two-speed transmission on the rear axle, which was recently created, ensures significantly improved dynamics. The incredibly short-ratio first gear aids in initial acceleration, while the long-ratio second gear conserves acceleration for high-speed maneuvers.
Furthermore, you can dramatically boost your car stay ability with Porsche Recuperation Management (PRM). Some kinetic energy is converted into more miles of driving pleasure: power can be pumped back into the battery with an excellent recoveryoutput of up to 275kW. Or, for instance, you can only reach a third of your range from recuperation during sport, normal driving. For example, Electrical energy can be restored for a range of up to 4 km with the recuperation braking from 200km/h to 0.
The Taycan and Taycan Cross Turismo feature Porsche Active Aerodynamics for dynamic driving. The intakes of cool air can be controlled. The Taycan also features an adjustable rear spoiler that stretches over three stages depending on driving: at 90, 160,and 200 km/h, it shows where an electric vehicle is a sports car, while a sports car has become a Porsche. The final stage (performance) provides optimal stability and dynamic potential.
The Interior and Exterior Styling
Although there are reminders of Porsche’s sports-car heritage inside its electric sedan, such as a start button on the left side of the steering wheel, there are also a slew of new high-tech features, such as a digital gauge cluster.
The Taycan Cross Turismo comes standard with a plethora of premium services and a plethora of personalization choices. The wagon, like the sedan, has a traditional four-seat configuration or an alternative five-seat configuration, with the latter adding a narrow middle seat in the back row. The Cross Turismo has marginally more headroom in the front and considerably more in the rear seats than the sedan, thanks in part to a standardpanoramic sunroof and a higher roofline. The wagon offers more rear luggage space than the sedan compared to the Taycan’s front trunk and good internal cubby room.
The great interior technology of the Taycan is carried on to the long-roof variant. This includes a curved optical gauge cluster, a 10.3-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard, and an 8.4-inch touchscreen built into the center console. Porsche also has a 10.3-inch touchscreen on the passenger side and other attractive features, including Apple CarPlay connectivity, built-in navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Selling Price
The price of Turismo crossover begins at $90,900, plus shipping charges. The Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo, the Taycan Turismo, the Taycan Turbo Cross, and the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo are all available in four different models, as is the normal Taycan sedan. The price varies with models and can increase base on the options you want.
Final Thoughts
It’s not shocking that Taycan Cross Turismo buyers won’t have to forego standard Porsche facilities or features like wireless Apple CarPlay, or the same kinds of improvements seen on the Taycan sedan.
This was effectively the main pledge when the Cross Turismo debuted: a much larger, more SUV-like version of what was then known as the Mission E. However, some may be frustrated that the final production Cross Turismo does not seem as rally-ready as the prototype. It can surely help Porsche sell more EVs before its genuinely famous SUVs, too, make the transition to electric power.
