The Audi RS6 is a high-performance sports wagon, a derivative of Audi A6 range, and a third generation of the series. The first and second generations come in two forms, Avant and saloon. But presently, the company only produces the Avant version.
The RS initials are from the German phrase, RennSport, which translates to “racing sport.” Indeed, the RS 6 is a top performance wagon; it has a robust internal combustion engine among the Audi models. Also, the horsepower and torque output are similar to the larger Audi S8 plus.
The Drivetrain and Performance
The Audi SR6 Avant is an all-season luxury car for the whole family. Plus, it offers the ultimate performance for families that want to arrive quickly and in style.
Under the bonnet sits a 4.0-liter dual-turbo V-8 engine that’s capable of releasing 591 hp and 590 lb of torque. The generated output is through an eight-speed auto-transmission system. Also, the sports wagon has a 48-volt mild-hybrid drivetrain added via the alternator belt and can store 12 kW of power.
Though the luxury car has a lithium-ion battery for storing power, the pack size was not disclosed. However, the performance of this sports wagon is bewildering. Audi claims the vehicle can sprint from 0-62mph in under 3.5 seconds. Plus, it can do 0-124 mph run within 12 seconds.
The top speed fails short of a fast car; it’s electronically limited to 155 mph. Moreover, the vehicle has an optional braking package, the carbon-ceramic, which ups the speed to 190 mph.
The Interior and Exterior of the New 2020 RS6 Avant
Once inside, you’re welcomed with four amazing leather colors. The sports seats are beautifully stitched. Equally, they have applied a tasteful carbon-fiber trim throughout the interior. The rear passenger seats looks like a three-across bench similar to the RS7 Sportback. But there more headroom space since the RS6 features a better outline.
The dashboard comes with an MMI Touch Response infotainment system that controls most of the tech items. Also, it features a virtual cockpit in the gauge cluster and reconfigurable displays with a host of information; at times, it renders the other two screens irrelevant.
Audi RS6 is a luxury car to stealth and a fast car to go wild; whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong. When compared with the A6 Avant, the RS6 is 3-inches wide, and the only similarities they share are the doors, roof, and tailgate. Yet, the front bumper and the LED headlamps are the same as the RS7 Sportback.
The Retailing Price
The Audi Company has remained tight-lipped on the price per unit. This is a tough hurdle for fast car enthusiasts who are eager to budget for the quickest wagon. But, there are rumors it will sell at a similar price as the RS7.
Final Take
The Audi RS6 comes with the best functionality system in the industry, the MMI Touch Response. Other remarkable features are the forward-collision warning, and blind monitoring sensors, among others.
Finally, the 2020 Audi RS6 Avant is heading to the US! This is according to a tweet post from Audi in March 2019. The announcement settled the dust on the debate, “When will the Audi RS6 Avant come to the US.” Americans are rejoicing, and now, they have a chance to relish on the high-performance wagon, which has an excellent fan base in Europe.
