Cost of Living
Of course, the first thing that we all want to know before we call Best Cross Country Movers to relocate us pretty much anywhere is the cost of living. Well, when it comes to California Vs Florida, it is hard to say as both states are very expensive places to live. However, even though the cost of living in Florida is considered higher than in most other USA states, it is still less expensive than California. The state of California actually ranks 2nd highest in the USA. The cost of living applies to almost everything – housing, bills, education and health systems, groceries, and everyday stuff. Thus, if you want to move to a country where living can be more comfortable, you should choose Florida.
Economy
The economy is another very important factor to consider before moving. Not all of us have the luxury of being economically independent and not worry about bills, rent, food and etc. So, living in a state that has a good economy and a possibility to find a job when needed is everybody’s priority. Thus, we are glad to say that both of these states have a lot of job possibilities. The unemployment rate in California is currently, in 2019, around 4.9%. And, the unemployment rate in Florida is around 3.6%. Yes, it seems like there is a bigger chance of getting a job Florida than in California, but this predominantly depends on your career preferences.
So, the most wanted jobs in California are – wind turbine technicians, web and software developers, rod busters, miners, roofers, and pipe insulators. And, when it comes to Florida, the most wanted jobs are the following – statisticians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, mechanical installers, and physical therapy assistants.
Education
If you have little ones, their education matters the most. And that applies to all schools from kindergarten to college. Unfortunately, you will probably be disappointed to find out that both states, California and Florida, are below average when it comes to education. However, this does not apply to every school in these two states. Schools and education systems vary from district to district, sometimes even from school to school. Thus, do not worry just yet. Instead do a thorough research on each particular school you and your child are interested in.
Beaches
And now some good news! Both of these states have alluring beaches with white sand and crystal clear water. The only bad news is difficulty to decide where will you go swimming, tanning or surfing. California, for example, is a better place for adventurous thrill-seekers. Water sports, especially surfing, are a way of the lifestyle here. There are also some amazing hidden gems that are hard to get to. But, once you do, it will be worth it. Florida, on the other hand, has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. However, Florida’s sandy beaches are mostly used for relaxing and soaking up all the sun. So, yes, when it comes to beaches, both California and Florida are amazing.
Food and Drinks
The cuisine is one of the major differences between these two states. And, if you are a foreigner, you will probably need some time to adjust. Let us begin by saying that the state of California is more healthier, that is, more health-conscious. Here you can find more smoothies and salads stores than for example, fast food stores. Everybody pays attention to calories and the freshness of ingredients, simply everybody pays attention to living a healthy lifestyle. In Florida, for instance, you will see the opposite. Florida prides itself on its comfort food. But, this comfort food resembles fast food a lot. You can expect a lot of burgers, fries, and pizzas.
Weather
Yes, both of these two states will offer you a lot of sunshine, that is for sure. But, there are some differences when it comes to climate. For instance, in California, you will have all four seasons. The summers are hot, the winters have a lot of snow, autumn and spring are warm and breezy. You have the whole package. Which is something you will not have in Florida. The Sunshine State, as the name suggests, is full of sun all year round. It will be rather hot and humid in summers, and pleasantly warm in the other three seasons. Just be careful of the hurricane season in Florida which lasts from June till November.
Happiness
Happiness is not easy to determine. But let us put it this way. In Florida, which is considered to be more a vacation state, is where everybody enjoys a laid-back kind of life. You will rarely see people rushing somewhere. There you will also experience the so-called flip flop culture. Everybody is wearing flip flops and summer clothes. However, in California, especially in some bigger cities, you will see people walking as if they were on a movie set. And, who knows, maybe they are. It can also be said that there is a pressure to dress differently in California because of all the celebrities. After all, this depends on you and your personality. If wearing summer clothes suits you, you will be much happier in Florida. If you want to feel like you are on a movie set and have that Hollywood lifestyle, then choose California.
