Malibu, CA boasts almost 27 miles of coastline, most of it comprising impeccable stretches of sandy beaches or intricate rock formations. Its epic coastline makes this part of California one of the best for beach going in the state. Surfing culture was invented here, and the waves still attest to the sport’s popularity today. Best Beaches
El Matador — Certainly one of the most picturesque beaches; this area has dramatic craggy rock formations. It isn’t quite as crowded as other beaches, making it perfect for those who want to savor the solitude and surf in peace.

Westward Beach — There are lifeguards at this beach, making it ideal for playing in the waves safely. The surfing here is also some of the best in California.
Malibu Lagoon State Beach — An idyllic beach complete with a pier; this area also has a generous sandy stretch and excellent views of the surrounding hills. The interplay of freshwater and seawater meeting here creates both the lagoon itself and nearby wetlands with seabirds.
Lechuza Beach — Combine a bit of sunbathing with excellent opportunities for photographing rock formations at this public beach that features a more natural aesthetic. Bring snacks and drinks, as there are no facilities here.
Leo Carrillo Beach — If you’re traveling with a child or dog, this is the perfect beach to romp on, offering tidepools and a specially designated area just for dogs.
Zuma Beach — A favorite among California natives, this beach is the quintessential experience, with superb views, plenty of facilities and an excellent reputation as a swimming area.

Transportation Options
Fly — Los Angeles International Airport is the closest to Malibu, and there are taxis available or bus routes to various points in the greater Los Angeles area.
Ride — The #534 Metro bus stops at many Malibu beaches as it travels down the Pacific Coast Highway.
Drive — Rent a car at LAX once you land or visit one of the rental offices located throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The Pacific Coast Highway is the main road running through Malibu, making navigation in the city easy.
