They say that summer is the perfect season for weddings, and a lot of brides from all over the world seem to agree, with so many of them choosing to tie the knot during that season. With summer in full swing, the weather is expected to be sunny and bright, but sometimes the weather can call for unexpected rain. Everything’s good and dandy if your wedding and reception are indoors, but what if they’re not?

There are many things that can go wrong at a wedding during the warmest season of the year. You have to deal with a lot of humidity, sweat, flowers wilting too easily, your guests getting overheated, and many more. So if you feel the heat and not just because it’s summer, here are some last-minute tips you need to know when planning your summer wedding.

Build a Sweat-Survival Kit

Summer is hot, and on some days, it can be so stifling that you will literally sweat the minute you walk out the door. This can be a problem for you as a bride and your entourage because it will ruin your makeup, dampen your clothes with sweat, and even destroy coiffures. To combat this, all you need to do is to prepare a sweat-survival kit.

Take care to include items that can help with sweating and heat. This can include deodorant, face blotters, body wipes, sunscreen, and even water. Have this kit handy so you can have access to it whenever you are free.

Get Extra Flowers

If you’re using real flowers for bouquets, they may wilt at an even-faster rate because of the more intense sunlight during the summer. It can be a big problem especially if you want your wedding photos to look nice for the years to come. Ask your florist to whip up some backup flowers for you just in case.

You don’t even have to use real florals for your backup bouquets. In fact, if you want to make sure you have picture-perfect blooms, go for artificial flowers instead. They look as pretty as the real ones, and they can be made way ahead of time.

Offer Refreshing Drinks/Treats

On a particularly hot summer day, it is a good idea to offer your guests some refreshing drinks before the ceremony. Keeping the guests cool should be a priority. If you have children at the affair, you can offer them cool treats like fresh ice pops. You can also have the option to have guests help themselves to a frozen treats bar at the reception.

Create a Contact Sheet

If you have a wedding planner and/or coordinator, it is a good idea to give them a list of for certain people who have big roles to play in your summer wedding. Use vellum sheets to put your list in to make it more stylish and much stronger than ordinary paper is.

The sheet should include names, phone numbers, and even email addresses of the wedding party, the family members, the entourage, and some people so they can be contacted or tracked easily in case of emergencies and last-minute instructions.

Keep Extra Wedding Invites On Hand

Planning a wedding can be a happy, tiresome, and overwhelming affair in a person’s life. It can get so busy that sometimes you forget to invite some really important people in your life. And because you run around town doing some last-minute appointments or things, you’re bound to bump with someone close that you forgot to invite.

That is why it is a good idea to keep extra wedding invitation cards on hand or order online wedding invitations in situations like this. Not only will you save yourself from the awkwardness, but you also keep a friend for life.

Protect against Bugs

Summer is also the season where offending bugs like mosquitoes come out and play. If you have an outdoor summer wedding and reception, help guests protect themselves against these pesky little critters by providing courtesy bug spray at the venue or inside their hospitality bags. Get citronella candles for tables as well to keep the mosquitoes away.

Easy Does It

When your big day is around the corner, it can be very easy to become overwhelmed. However, the right planning and advanced thinking can help smoothen things out and even accommodate last-minute changes.
