Sooner or later, homeowners all face the issue of updating or remodeling their homes. Even if we take very good care of our homes, styles change and we must modernize the interior design in order to maintain healthy property value. (Image Credit:  Jean van der Meulen /Pixabay)

Renovation normally begins with one of the two most important rooms in the house: the kitchen or the bathroom. But, where do you begin?

Rarely do we rip out the entire room to update and remodel. So we need modern things that go with the new countertops and maybe existing floors or cabinets.

Below you will find some unique combinations that will work great regardless of the degree of change you create.

Minimalist

This ultra-modern kitchen goes well with hardwood floors and painted cabinets. The minimalist kitchen is done in white with dark accents. A plant or a big vase add a shock of color to the sleek look. White cabinets, ceilings, and walls in this contemporary kitchen make additions like faucets in stainless steel shine. Add stainless steel appliances for a perfect look.

Granite

Use the same concept as the minimalist but give your room a softer and chicer look by adding granite countertops. While this look is often paired with tile floors, do not be afraid of trying something unique like sealed concrete.  Bar stools in front of the island of black and chrome add to the design. For accessories, you can find your old sepia photographs that you can print out for your walls. If you need help with 35mm old photo films, you can use a slide service like this one.

Wood

Take your white kitchen to a new level with a natural oak wood island with matching wood barstools. Combine this with a deep chestnut hardwood floor and you have the perfect contemporize room with a down home feel. The warm wood is the focal point of the room and it is framed perfectly with the white surroundings and the dark floor.

The Manhattan

This kitchen is sophisticated and chic. Keeping with the dark wood or tile floor and white brick walls, we are going to get dramatic with a strong and bright colored picture on the wall. A deep ivory color on the wall behind the island and some beautiful hanging lamps of gold make this room super modern with minimal effort. For this room, use Tall Island clear plastic chairs.

Steel White

When it comes to interior design, think stainless steel and white. Stainless steel faucets, paired with white cabinet fronts, and a stainless steel backsplash create an exciting look. Paint walls a light which has a blue-gray finish. For a great contrast try a marble floor or a tile that mimics marble.

For all of these looks, you will keep the room design very chic. The fewer items on the counters the better. Select a splash color and make it count. A shock of royal blue or deep purple will make the room pop. If you are using plants to make your color statement, make them full and big.

There are much more options for a kitchen or bath redesign that will incorporate items you have with pieces to bring your kitchen up to date. Consult a professional. They will have surprising ideas for you and will help you every step of the way.
