John Krasinski first popped onto America’s radar in the sitcom, The Office. He was cast as paper salesman and lovable prankster, Jim Halpert. John Krasinski had fantastic chemistry with co-star and on-screen love interest, Jenna Fischer. Their plot line, Jim’s hijinks, and Michael’s antics were engaging. The ensemble cast delighted audiences and their Hollywood peers. The television program ran for 8 seasons, earning Screen Actors Guild Award nominations for 7 seasons and winning 2.
Becoming an Action Hero
Another sitcom actor turned action movie star, this talented celebrity went through an amazing metamorphosis following the show’s end. In 2015, director Michael Bay cast John Krasinski as the lead in 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Audiences had never seen John Krasinski in such an action packed role before. In fact, some people were skeptical that he would play the part successfully. Misplaced were their concerns! John Krasinski worked hard to become the buff Navy SEAL. Overall, the movie got mixed reviews. However, the skilled actor still earned the title of action movie star with the film.
An Overwhelming Cinematic Success
Notably, 2018 brought us yet another new side of this multifaceted movie star. The film, A Quiet Place, premiered in April of this year. Nearly silent, this incredible thriller starred celebrities John Krasinski and his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, as the parents of three children in a post-apocalyptic world. In addition to his acting duties, John Krasinski also co-wrote and directed the movie. The film’s ingenious plot riveted audiences and critics expressed high praise for the film. Indeed, A Quiet Place has already garnered some Oscar buzz!
A Quiet Place was not John Krasinski’s first foray into the world of screenwriting. He also co-wrote Promised Land (2012) with fellow Matt Damon. The film was a narrative on the plight of the family farm in light of hard economic times. Also, both of the talented celebrities starred in the film.
The Newest Jack Ryan
Hollywood has given us many incarnations of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. In fact, this next endeavor will be the fifth. Similarly to Baldwin, Ford, Affleck, and Pine before him, John Krasinski will play the CIA analyst who has a knack for finding himself in the midst of international intrigue. Unlike the previous films, this Jack Ryan story will be told with a serial format on Amazon. Moreover, even though the show has not yet premiered, it is already renewed for a second season.
John Krasinksi’s other notable works include: The Holiday (2006), License to Wed (2007), Leatherheads (2008), It’s Complicated (2011), Something Borrowed (2011), The Muppets (2011), Big Miracle (2012), and Aloha (2015).
Devoted Family Man
John Krasinski and fellow celebrity, Emily Blunt, married in 2010. The charming couple have two daughters, Hazel and Violet. Their children have them quite smitten of their off-screen roles as parents. In fact, John Krasinski has indicated that, despite its thriller façade, A Quiet Place is, at its core, a film about parenthood. Unlikely as it seems, ultimately, the movie is about the lengths parents will go for their children.
Also, this dynamic celebrity couple seems to have a penchant for flipping houses. These globetrotters have recently switched their home base from the West Coast to the East Coast. They sold three houses last year, including one in Hollywood Hills and one in Ojai, to accommodate the move. Most recently, they sold their Brooklyn townhouse after making a hefty amount of renovations on the property.
What’s Next?
Of course, the start of Amazon’s Jack Ryan is right around the corner with a premiere date of August 31, 2018. But if you’re looking for more of the special sauce that John Krasinski shared in A Quiet Place, you might not have to look too far! Paramount Pictures recently announced that A Quiet Place 2 is in the works. We haven’t heard much about the project. Though, people in-the-know hope for a 2020 release. Fingers crossed!
