Fabulous Beauty Salon: Petite Mason
With an ethos of approachable high-end beauty delivered in a chic European-influenced space, Petite Mason is a new West Hollywood salon offering full-service hair, nails, waxing, facials, eyelash extensions, spray tan and makeup. Petite Mason derives its approach from London import Lana Grand, one of the most sought after hairstylists in the industry.
Rather than “another celebrity salon,” Petite Mason reflects Grand’s philosophy that beauty can be elicited, and maintained, with less complication. “Hair isn’t rocket science. It shouldn’t take 4-5 hours and two dozen processes to get it right,” says Grand, who chose the moniker Petite Mason as an English twist on the Continental standard maison, instead paying homage to those, whether hairdressers or bricklayers, who work with their hands. “Women want hair that’s sexy and manageable, not a stiff museum piece, a hairstyle that can move and be free.”
The salon’s 1,700-sq. ft. interior – open, clean, laidback and light-filled – visually reflects this philosophy with its comfortable design inspired by a Malibu beach home, complemented by gratis tea, coffee and espresso, as well as beer and wine. Located at 8473 Melrose Avenue, just east of La Cienega Boulevard, Petite Mason is ideally situated in one of West Hollywood’s most stylish areas near the Pacific Design Center and such celebrated restaurants as Lucques, a stretch of Melrose being transformed into part of a new walking metropolitan quarter.
As a full-service salon, Petite Mason streamlines the process by allowing customers to have the same stylist for cut and color. Three price tiers are informed by the experience and vision of each Stylist, Senior Stylist and Master Stylist, under the supervision of Owner/Master Stylist Lana Grand. Services include hair (women’s cut, men’s cut, blow dry, Brazilian), color (base, highlights partial, highlights full, balayage, gloss, color correction), extensions, waxing, nails (manicure, pedicure), spray tan, and make-up/makeup lessons. Featured brands at Petite Mason include L’Oréal and Kérastase, Eminence Organic Skin Care, and soon adding medical scalp care brand Philip Kingsley.
Petite Mason is the first branded destination for Lana Grand, a seasoned stylist recognized for her creative instincts and the ability to find the perfect color and style for her clients to suit their lifestyle. A native of Estonia who spent her teenage years in London, Grand moved to Los Angeles in 2008. Having begun her professional journey at some of the top salons in London, she continued to hone her craft at such local venues as Canalé Salon in Malibu, Prive and Gavert Atelier in Beverly Hills and Hush Hush in Manhattan Beach, in addition to corporate work as well as being an educator for Schwarzkopf Professional. Her beauty work has appeared from film and TV to magazines and live events. Along with fashion shows for Hugo Boss, Anthony Franco and Bora Aksu, and award show gift suites for Oscars and Golden Globes.
Grand has beautified models and stars for TV makeover projects, Victoria’s Secret Show for E!, The Real L World, Leave it to Lamas, Billabong, Guess, Jouer and Everyday Minerals cosmetics.
She has also been a go-to talent for music videos and editorial shoots for countless musical artists including Jane’s Addiction, Tiesto, Local Natives, The Wild Hearts, Alkaline Trio, Cory Taylor (Slipknot) and Kelly Osbourne.
Lana Grand aims to expand Petite Mason to San Francisco, Miami and other major markets within five years, positioning the brand both for locals and business/personal travelers as a trusted, full-service beauty solution. Follow on Instagram: @petitemason.
